The bright living room and its marble staircase

01The villa

A house that tells the story of Sardinia, room by room

In the morning, golden light slides across the pool and the turquoise sea waits two minutes away on foot. Villa Rose was restored as a tribute to the island: biancone di Orosei stone lines the paths, chestnut beams carry the ceilings, and a marble staircase runs through the large open living room. Every material was chosen to tell a fragment of Sardinia.

The villa sleeps up to eleven guests in four bedrooms: two double rooms on the ground floor opening onto the terraces, and two suites upstairs with private bathrooms and a view over the pool. Children have their own kingdom, a mezzanine designed like a cabin, reached by a handcrafted wooden staircase. Five bathrooms, including an outdoor one by the pool, make sure everyone keeps their privacy.

02Pool and summer kitchen

Days by the pool, evenings around the Palermo oven

The large pool stays bathed in sun from morning to evening, yours alone, with loungers, parasols and a solar shower. When the heat fades, the pergola and its summer kitchen become the beating heart of the house. Its pizza oven was crafted in Palermo by one of the last Italian artisans still working raw materials the traditional way. You light it, fire up the barbecue, and dinner stretches under the stars for as long as the conversation lasts.

  • Large private pool with solar shower
  • Artisan pizza oven from Palermo
  • Loungers, parasols and pergola
The villa vegetable garden

03The campo sardo

A garden planted with memories, from grandmother's roses to grapes on the vine

The villa's orchard and vegetable garden are a nod to the garden of Stéphanie's grandparents: the sweet grapes of "sa pregua" eaten straight from the vine, the spring medlars that announced the end of the school year. As for the rose bushes, they gave the house its name. They were planted in tribute to her grandmother, whose great magenta-velvet roses remain, in her eyes, the most beautiful in the world.

You pick seasonal vegetables and aromatic herbs there for the evening plate. The house also lives by sustainable values: an artesian well waters the garden, photovoltaic panels power the villa, and household products are carefully refilled rather than thrown away.

« My grandmother's great roses, with their magenta-velvet petals, remain in my eyes the most beautiful in the world. They gave the house its name. »

04Your hosts

Stéphanie, born on the island, and her team on site

Villa Rose is Stéphanie's story. Born in Sant'Antioco, the island of her childhood, she grew up in "Solki", the oldest town in Italy, and spent her teenage summers in Calasetta among the blue-and-white facades. Now based near Paris, an epicurean at heart, she restored this house as a bridge between her island and the finest discoveries of her travels.

On site, Jocelyne, who speaks French and Italian, welcomes you with a basket of Sardinian produce, and Carlo looks after the pool and the garden every morning. Bed, bath and pool linen are provided. Here, human contact is a pleasure that is offered, never a constraint that is imposed.

05The beaches and the village

Spiaggia Grande two hundred metres away, Le Saline right next door

The villa nestles by Spiaggia Grande, one of the island's loveliest fine-sand beaches: two hundred metres, a two-minute walk, beach towels included. Right next to it stretches another jewel, Le Saline beach and its dunes. The port and centre of Calasetta, with its Tabarkin alleys, bakeries and market, are less than ten minutes away by car, and the ferry to San Pietro island and Carloforte leaves from the port for a fine day trip.
