The Sulcis is a land of ungrafted vines, planted in sand and often a century old, from which Carignano del Sulcis is born. Three nearby estates feature in the villa's welcome booklet, each for a different experience.
Tenuta La Scogliera, the view
In Calasetta itself, the Tenuta La Scogliera offers tastings of Carignano and local white varieties with views over the sea and the countryside, and sunset aperitivos depending on the programme.
Tenuta La Sabbiosa, the authentic one
Also in Calasetta, the Tenuta La Sabbiosa farms organically and produces on a small, artisanal scale. Tastings are by reservation only, with a tour of the vineyards and the cellar.
Cantina Mesa, the prestigious one
A little further towards Sant'Anna Arresi, the Cantina Mesa is one of the most renowned estates in southern Sardinia: guided, structured tastings, award-winning wines where Carignano takes pride of place, and modern architecture worth the visit on its own.
