The first beach is a two-minute walk from the villa. Here is how to plan your days by the sea, towels included.
Spiaggia Grande is 200 metres from the villa, with two ways down on foot, and beach towels are provided. You will find two kiosks, parasol and lounger hire and, in July and August, a kitesurfing school. Many of our guests spend their mornings there before coming back for lunch under the pergola.
The sand is pale, the water deepens gently, and children can touch the bottom for a long way out: it is the family beach par excellence. In July and August, come before ten or after five for the golden light and the return of calm.
Le Saline, right next door
Right next door begins Le Saline beach, lined with dunes and greenery. The water is turquoise, and it is a lovely spot for sunset. The dunes are fragile: please keep to the marked paths.
Further afield, depending on the wind
For a change, the island has plenty of coves and long beaches towards the south, such as Coaquaddus or Maladroxia, about twenty minutes away by car. The day's choice mostly depends on the wind: when the mistral blows, the east coast of the island stays sheltered, and vice versa.
Near the village, Spiaggia Sotto Torre is ideal at sunset, followed by a stroll along the port. Further south, Cala Sapone is a small cove among the rocks, and Is Praneddas has wilder cliffs. Finally, the Mangiabarche lighthouse, on its islet off Calasetta, makes a great photo.
When you arrive, the Villa Rose team will tell you which beach to pick depending on the day's wind. And for a change of scene, the Delcomar ferry takes you to Carloforte, on the island of San Pietro, in about thirty minutes.
