The beaches around Villa Rose, from Spiaggia Grande to Le Saline

Published on May 28, 2026 · 8 min read

The first beach is a two-minute walk from the villa. Here is how to plan your days by the sea, towels included.

The villa nestles by Spiaggia Grande, one of the island's loveliest fine-sand beaches: two hundred metres, a two-minute walk, and beach towels are provided. Many of our guests spend every morning there before coming back for a cool lunch under the pergola.

The sand is pale, the water deepens gently, and children can touch the bottom for a long way out: it is the family beach par excellence. In July and August, come before ten or after five for the golden light and the return of calm.

Le Saline, the neighbouring jewel

Right next door stretches Le Saline beach, a unique spot surrounded by greenery and dunes. The water takes on turquoise shades and the sunsets are worth lingering over with a glass of Carignano del Sulcis. The dunes and the vegetation edging it are fragile: keep to the marked paths.

Further afield, depending on the wind

For a change, the island multiplies coves and long beaches towards the south, such as Coaquaddus or Maladroxia, about twenty minutes away by car. The day's choice mostly depends on the wind: when the mistral blows, the east coast of the island stays sheltered, and vice versa.

Near the village, Spiaggia Sotto Torre is the dream sunset spot, to be extended with a stroll on the port. Further south, Cala Sapone nestles in the rocks and Is Praneddas unrolls its grandiose landscapes for lovers of wild places. And for the photo of the stay, the Mangiabarche lighthouse, set on its islet, is one of the island's emblems.

Ask Jocelyne for advice when you arrive: depending on the day's wind, she will tell you which one to choose, a knowledge only islanders possess. And for a different kind of day, the Delcomar ferry crosses to Carloforte and the wild coves of San Pietro.
